Classic car hiking is popular (question of the week)
09/04/2019
The calendar of events is full of different occasions where you can drive your classic and modern classic car. The requirements for crew and vehicle are very different. While at some events it is enough to be able to follow signs, at others small-scale maps have to be interpreted, road books read and clocks operated with millisecond precision.
In a question of the week , we wanted to know what kind of driving events Zwischengas readers prefer.
The largest proportion, namely 36.8%, prefer events where you can drive along comfortably on signposted routes without time pressure and without special tests. This is commonly referred to as "classic car touring" and takes place, for example, at the ADAC Deutschland Classic.
21.3 percent prefer the classic classic car rallies with a road book and time table, one or two special stages and a classification, such as the Ennstal-Classic or the Passione Carracciola.
However, a fifth of the 315 participating readers show no interest at all in organized driving events. They prefer to organize themselves rarely.
Only 7 percent of readers prefer classic car rallies where you can drive really fast and on closed routes, such as the Tour Auto.
2.5 percent prefer to ride exclusively on race tracks, i.e. at historic racing events, and 2.9 percent prefer events where long routes with limited conditions are specified, such as the Alpenbrevet.
9.3% did not find any of the answers suitable, perhaps because they like different types of event and did not want to decide.
As a conclusion, however, it is certainly fair to say that classic car touring is popular and events with a competitive character appear less attractive to many classic car and youngtimer drivers.

The next question of the week has already been posed; it attempts to clarify whether the neoclassics are likely to be able to maintain or even increase their high listings in the future .
