The Ford RS200 in the Vulkaneifel
07/20/2018
They are back on the track, the Group B rally cars and, of course, many other historic rally cars from the last 50 years. The ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival brings them all together. They can once again roar and race to their heart's content. And in front of thousands of enthusiastic spectators.
Yesterday (July 19, 2018) was the starting signal and rally cars got underway in the "Maubach Arena", which was used for the first time, from 15:00. The picture above shows a Ford RS 200 during the "shakedown".
And as we all know, this was just the start, because today, Friday and Saturday, the events will follow one after the other, including the "Super Stage" today from 14:20 and the night stage from 19:20 around Samersbach. There will also be a real gasp on various special stages on Saturday.
A good 25 years ago, the magazine Auto Motor und Sport testedthe Ford RS 200 and found the following, among other things:
"The sports car with four-wheel drive has clear favorite areas, for example the elegantly curved English country lanes, where you inhale something like the spirit of the old Nürburgring at every hedge and every crest. But he also has clear dislikes, and he is certainly not a car mobile for the short-stay parking zone. It handles maneuvering work with the elegance of a long timber transporter, although both need a guide - the timber truck because of its length, the RS 200 because all you can see behind is the rich tan of the plastic rear window."
Well, the RS 200 is in exactly the right place in the Volkaneifel, because there are certainly winding country lanes and parking in the short-stay parking zone is not the order of the day.
... and our man on site, Antoine Dellenbach, to whom we also owe the RS 200 photo, will make sure that Zwischengas readers get to see an interesting review in just a few days.
