A chance meeting of old companions
05/08/2018
The Kriens-Eigenthal hill climb is to celebrate its resurrection with a fantastic revival on September 14 and 15, 2019. At the general meeting of the ACS Innerschweiz on May 3, 2018, four companions from the last Eigenthal race in 1968 met up purely by chance.
From left to right: photographer Josef Reinhard, known as "Katastrophen-Sepp". He was there with his camera at the time and captured the race on film for the Automobil-Revue and Powerslide (a photo example with a Ford Mustang in 1968 follows at the end of this article).
Jürg Kaufmann was on duty as an OC member (organizing member) in 1968.
Ms. Nienke Schätzle-Heller drove along in her mother's Opel Rekord and she joined the ACS immediately after her driving test on the advice of her driving instructor. At that time, it was not possible to take part in racing events without membership.
Hermann Bürgi was at the start with his Lotus Elan, but had to retire early because the cylinder head gasket had already lost its seal during training.
Finally, Peter W. Ottiger, a successor to Jürg Kaufmann, is one of the new members of the OC of the planned "Kriens-Eigenthal Historic" event.
