Why not go tiger hunting in a Rolls-Royce?
How can you imagine that? There's the jungle, bumpy and narrow paths, a tiger creeps around the corner and then a yellow Rolls-Royce comes along ? The quiet running of the engine certainly helped to sneak up on it, while the Maharajah of Jammu and Kashmir Hari Singh could rest in the back and perhaps drink a sherry before the all-important shot.
If the tiger was spotted, the rifle had to be pulled out of the appropriate storage compartment, aimed and hopefully hit the target.
It was the British company Wylder that built this Rolls-Royce into a hunting car in 1933. The car returned to Great Britain in the 1940s, after which a lengthy restoration odyssey began, which came to a successful end in Germany.
Now the 84-year-old car is back on the market and can be purchased at auction on Catawiki from today . According to the specialists there, it is worth around EUR 160,000 to 210,000. We will soon find out whether the online bidders see it the same way.
In any case, it would be nice if the rare RR hunting car found a new owner who enjoys taking it out and showing it often. He doesn't have to hunt tigers with it.
