Is the colorful world of the automobile not over after all?
In the seventies and early eighties, bright colors were still very popular for cars. Sports cars and leisure vehicles in particular (such as the Citroën Méhari, for example) were often ordered in yellow, green or light blue.
Today, however, the automotive color space consists primarily of shades of gray. At least that's how it feels. If you look at a dealer's used Porsche models, for example, they are usually painted black, silver or white.
So we were all the more surprised recently when we drove past a Porsche garage and saw some really colorful Cayenne models.
Maybe we haven't lost faith in color after all?
Well, we shouldn't hold out too much hope, because the whole thing looks more like a marketing campaign with wrapped vehicles and the average Cayenne will still be roaming our streets tomorrow without any color. What a shame, really!
