They were still rental cars!

In 1965, Playboy magazine named the Shelby Mustang GT 350 the "Playboy Car of the Year". This and probably also the public's great interest in the fast descendant of the Ford Mustang , which was actually designed for racing, prompted the car rental company Hertz to order 1000 units of the fast sports car from Carroll Shelby.
The black and gold sprayed coupés had 306 SAE horsepower and, unlike the standard version, were delivered with four seats. The GT 350 H, as it was called in reference to Hertz, was available with manual and automatic transmission. However, if someone wanted to rent the Mustang with four manually sorted gears, a "shifting lesson" was required before departure.
Hertz Shelby versions of the successor models to the Mustang were then also delivered to the American rental network, and the campaign was obviously a success. Every now and then, one of the hot Hertz cars comes up for auction, currently at prices of around USD 100,000 and more.
What would Hertz have to rent out today to offer something similar? A Porsche 991 GT3 or a road-going Nascar racing car?
