Drive better than James Bond?
Yesterday, the Swiss daily newspaper "Tages Anzeiger" reported that Daniel Craig, alias James Bond, is unable to shift gears manually in an Aston Martin DB5. He is even quoted in the article as saying that manual gearboxes are not his thing.
An ideal hook for this note, because now you can feel really good as a traditional motorist who can still sort the gears by hand, because you drive better than James Bond, so to speak, and he is a demigod among motorists after all.
But the "rumor" is probably not true, because it dates back to 2006, when Casino Royale was filmed and only an automatic Aston was available on the set.
According to other sources, Craig can shift gears with his (left) hand and is even said to have said that as a Brit, you are almost forced to do so. Well, that clarifies that too.
In the new James Bond, entitled "Spectre", which is due to be released in cinemas in November 2015, Craig is known to be driving a DB10, an Aston that doesn't (yet?) exist. And it will certainly have paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Material for the next legends ...
