In the fifties, car advertising was still dreamy, when an upscale family sedan became a movie star.
The Opel Kapitän, "the reliable one", was described at the time as follows:
" The reason for its preference is obvious: as the star of its class, the Opel Kapitän obviously bears the stamp of international character and validity. It is good to look at and good to drive - easy to drive! People know about its reliability, the temperament of its famous engine, its comfortable equipment and its spaciousness - its success was assured right from the start."
