Racing car exhibition in St. Gallen - from Maserati to Morgan
At the end of November 2012, Renate and Peter Hürlimann organized their very special, small but high-quality racing car exhibition for the third time under the motto "Fascination Motorsport". Each of the racing cars on display has its own story. Whether a successful one or not, one blurred in the castor oil fog or one that has been elaborately researched and recorded in its own book.
As a special attraction, the organizers presented five generations of Maserati. From the original Maserati Tipo 26 from 1928, the 8 CM from 1933, the GP racing car 250 F from 1956, a Mistral rally car from 1963 to the current Trofeo from 2010. All of them are still used in races today, the historic ones have been faithfully restored and the Trofeo is ready for the current World Series.
And then there were all the racing cars of private drivers: the Chevrolet Nascar with 685 hp, the Opel Kadett 16V of current slalom champion Christoph Zwahlen or the Austin Healey 3000 of Dario Pergolini and many others. They represented the versatility of motor racing.
The filigree Fiat racing car, for example, using the Topolino as a basis, next to it on 3 wheels a super-fast Morgan from 1933, and if it wasn't already fast enough, it was given a supercharger!
One step further, skillfully placed, a brute, all-crushing 14.5-litre American La France from 1917. And of course a Steyr Puch, not so old, but in its day incredibly fast in the European Rally Championship of the 1960s.
In action at the next Walzenhausen-Lachen hill climb, you will be able to see everything from the Monster to the top-class Maserati and the Steyr-Puch, as well as other vehicles on display. Will the electric car named Alfred Dinin from 1903 be there to bear witness to over 100 years of electrical engineering? It would certainly be interesting.
