The organizers of the 40th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix 2012 had come up with something very special. In cooperation with BMW, a race was organized to celebrate 40 years of Motorsport GmbH. A race featuring only BMW cars from a wide variety of eras, from the BMW 2002 TI (born before M GmbH) to the BMW Z4 GT3 from 2007, including a pack of M1s, various M3s from all model series, several 320 Group 5s, CSL coupés and also an E46 GTR and a Z3 GT3 (with Dieter Quester at the wheel).
And anyone who thinks that new cars are faster was mistaken. Because a BMW M1 drove away at the front ...
And in terms of sound, the M1 sound artist, which is now over 30 years old, beat the whole field anyway.
