The Aston-Martin DBR 1 as a kit
08/13/2012
The car manufacturer Evanta has come up with something very special for the Goodwood Revival. The Le Mans winning car Aston Martin DBR1 of 1959 by Roy Salvadori and Caroll Shelby is presented as a 1:1 scale kit.
Up to now, the models from Tamiya and other model manufacturers have mostly been in 1:18 scale or perhaps a little larger, but there has never been a real kit in original size including the winner's trophy of this kind before, if we leave aside the English kit cars of the fifties and sixties.
The kit is hand-built and includes upholstered seats, 16-inch wheels and a Mota-Lita steering wheel, as well as a cap signed by Shelby and Salvadori. Each part is numbered, as is usual with kits.
It's just a shame that you can't drive the extremely faithful replica. In view of the price, which is estimated at between 25,000 and 38,000 euros or CHF 30,000 and 45,000 respectively, this would certainly have widened the circle of potential buyers who could purchase this unique piece at the Goodwood auction!
