Engine: Drain the oil in the engine sump while it is warm (i.e. immediately after using the vehicle) and refill with new oil to the ‘FULL’ mark on the dipstick. The drain plug is located at the rear righthand extremity of the sump and care should be taken to ensure that no dirt or grit enters the sump when replacing the plug. Capacity is 6 pints (3.41 litres). Bonnet Lock: Apply a few drops of engine oil to the bonnet lock and safety catch. Fan Belt: Check the adjustment of the fan belt. It should be sufficiently tight to prevent slip at the generator and water pump, yet at the same time it should be possible to move it laterally about 1 inch (2.54 cm.). To make any necessary adjustment slacken the bolts and raise or lower the generator until the desired tension of the belt is obtained. Then securely lock the generator in that position. Distributor Spindle: Lubricate the distributor bearings by withdrawing the moulded rotating arm from the top of the distributor spindle and carefully adding a few drops of oil round the screw exposed to view.
