The fastest duck in the world!
A 2CV as fast as a falcon—or to put it another way: a 2CV as fast as a GT3! Yes, this black 1980 racing 2CV really packs a punch. After the untimely death of his wife, Leander Wieland set to work. To clear his head a bit, he simply built the world’s fastest 2CV in nine months.
This lightweight packs over 100 PS. A 1300cc engine from the Citroën GSA provides the power, and a straight-cut sequential transmission transfers it to the asphalt via the wide rear tires. In first gear, it hits the 80-km/h mark at 8,200 rpm, and it keeps going all the way to somewhere well above 160 km/h!
The excitement among spectators at the Joch Pass knew no bounds when, after a long period of engine roar, it wasn’t a “Falke” but this black “Duck” that rounded the curve. Sure, it’s not entirely original anymore, but it’s simply brilliant—and therefore well worth this blog post!
