Ladders? Traffic signs? Scaffolding? With enough physical effort and a few tools, you can shrink almost anything down to the size of an ordinary estate car. To illustrate the virtually infinite loading height of the Renault 4 Fourgonnette thanks to the roof edge flap, illustrator Raymond Savignac therefore chose something that definitely cannot be dismantled if it is to arrive at its destination in working condition. The giraffe in the rear was as cute as it was unmistakable – and gave the somewhat bulky "panneau bombé relevable et facilement amovible" a much more elegant name: "Girafon".
