Preview (beginning of the article)
The former marginal model R 5 L has been heavily promoted by Deutsche Renault since spring 1975 - not least as a move against the new VW Polo. Since the Renault 5 appeared on the German market in October 1972, the sales share of the L version was only between three and seven percent, with regional differences. The TL version always accounted for the lion's share of R 5 registrations. Since May 1975, the sportier R 5 LS version has also been available, with an average sales share of 15 percent. In France, the luxury version R 5 TS is also already on sale, but sales of this model in Germany are not due to start until the end of 1975.
