Backdating is pretty okay (question of the month)
For some years now, the so-called "backdating" trend has been on the rise. Younger sports cars are being converted to look like their predecessors. The best-known examples are Porsche 964s or G models that look like F models, i.e. original 911s. Backdating would also be conceivable for other vehicle types whose basic layout and design have not been extensively changed over the years. For example, you could convert a 3rd series Capri into a 1st series model or a late Alfa Romeo Giulia into an early one.
Of course, this dilutes the original condition, but the simultaneous improvements bring the oldie closer to more modern cars. Does this make sense?
We wanted to find out from Zwischengas readers and asked the following " question of the month" : What do you think of "backdating"?
54.3% of the more than 300 respondents do not believe in "backdating" and would not consider such vehicles.
27.5 % are liberal, saying that every car owner should know for themselves what they do with their car. However, these respondents show little interest in owning such a car themselves.
For 16.4%, however, it is clear that the look of the old car combined with the better technology of its successor sounds like the best of both worlds. These respondents could also imagine buying a backdating car.
1.9% were unable to come up with an answer.
So not quite half of them think "backdating" is okay or even interesting.
