Pointing numbers game (car connoisseur quiz)
09/21/2025
Circular, rectangular, trapezoidal, low and wide, narrow and high, light on dark, dark on light; sometimes the pointer moves, sometimes the scale - speedometers come in many different designs. Their task is always the same: to display the speed of the vehicle around them as correctly and clearly as possible. However, this has not always been successful, with the second criterion in particular often being the neglected one.
The Lancia Appia is such a case: a little too playful, the needle a little too short and, on top of that, numbers that change direction. But who cares if the aesthetics are right? A pretty car also needs pretty instruments. What would it look like if there was white-on-black DIN boredom? You'd fall asleep at the wheel. Better to be a bit too fast then...
As with Lancia's smallest model, a speedometer was usually typical of the model in which it was installed. Even standardized products from the supplier were often a little different in detail. We have therefore dedicated a second quiz to perhaps the most important instrument on the dashboard. Would you like to try?
