It's different when you've been "there"

Almost 20 years ago, I visited Wales (UK) to watch an ambitious sports car project in the making. Tim Bishop explained the ideas behind his Connaught D-Type GT and I was even allowed to sit in the passenger seat for a drive in the "Test Mule".
The sports car was compact, four-seater and very, very light for the time. Exactly what people are craving again today. And it was supposed to meet all emission targets, pass crash tests and be a problem-free everyday car, not least with a V10 engine and hybrid drive in the transmission tunnel.
As we now know, not everything worked out as planned, but I was able to have a long conversation with Tim Bishop over the past few days and we expect to publish a comprehensive report on the Connaught D-Type in a week or so. I was also able to drive and, above all, photograph the test car, which has since become a youngtimer.
