The classic film by Federico Fellini from 1954 was called "La Strada", the German translation of which is "Das Lied der Strasse". This picture of the Alfa Romeo RL from 1924 in the middle of Italian evening traffic symbolizes this bygone cinema classic like no other. The picture was taken in the mid-1980s on the approach to the start of the Mille Miglia in Brescia. The Italian melodrama by Federico Fellini celebrated its premiere in Venice on September 6, 1954.
In the film, Fellini tells the story of the life of young Gelsomina, who was sold by her mother to Zampanò, a circus performer, and shows how she travels through Italy with him and meets the tightrope walker Il Matto, but then Zampanò and Matto fall out...
"A movie like a deep dream from which you want to wake up and then don't want to. It pulls you to the bottom of the sea and then your normal life looks different forever. What other movie can do that?" (Doris Dörrie, ZEITmagazin, 7/2014)
