Skoda occasionally fitted different hubcaps on the left and right.
While the "arrow" normally pointed forwards/rightwards (into the future) and thus also the symbol on the hubcap on the right, hubcaps were fitted on the left side with the arrow pointing to the left. This meant that different hubcaps were manufactured, each of which could only be fitted on the side intended for it.
Presumably this hobby became too expensive for Skoda at some point and the different hubcaps were abandoned.
Incidentally, these subtleties could be seen at the Skoda meeting in Ticino , about which a report was recently published.
