Driving safety training in classic cars considered useful (question of the week)
Modern cars are taking over more and more things that used to be the responsibility of the driver. ABS, ASR, ESP, torque vectoring, etc. are now standard in many places, but not in classic cars. Here you are responsible for your own driving safety. This raises the question of whether drivers of classic cars would be wise to undergo driving safety training in an old car from time to time. In a" question of the week" , we asked Zwischengas readers what they thought about this.
Over half of the respondents were in favor of such driving safety training in their old car, but only seven percent (of all respondents) are able to attend such training with their old car at least once a year. A quarter take a driving safety course from time to time, but 23 percent would like to learn to drive safely in their old car, but cannot find a suitable course nearby.
A further nine percent state that they have attended such a driving safety course once, which is sufficient, while 21 percent consider such training programs to be unnecessary.
A high 12 percent of the 234 responses were unable to agree with any of the options, probably because they either consider the training offered to be of little use or unnecessary.
