From the Lancia Stratos Turbo to the New Stratos
The exciting thing about working as an editor at zwischengas is not just researching and creating new articles. We often receive feedback from reports, which leads to new stories or additions that we are happy to publish afterwards.
This was also the case with the recently published article on the Lancia Stratos HF Turbo:
We received additional pictures of the Turbo Stratos from Walter Scherrer, an Zwischengas member from the very beginning, since December 27, 2010 to be precise, when it was shown at the presentation of the "New Stratos" in Le Castellet in November 2010 together with other Lancia racing cars.
Another interesting aspect of the presentation was certainly the rare opportunity to see the Stratos prototype live, which celebrated its premiere at the 1971 Turin Motor Show.
The Safari Stratos also attracted a lot of attention:
In addition to the Safari Stratos, the road-going Stratos and the prototype, the main candidate, the New Stratos, was also on site
The New Stratos was created as a private project, initiated by Michael Stoschek, a collector and driver of historic racing cars. He and his son Maximillian played a key role in the technical concept and design of the one-off vehicle, which has been built by Pininfarina in Turin since fall 2008.
According to the official website www.new-stratos.com, the New Stratos is still a one-off.
But let's take a quick look at the Group 5 Alitalia Lancia Turbo: they were clearly struggling to get the "monster" running. Michael Stoschek's mechanic helped out and after several attempts, the Turbo Stratos was brought back to life.
Unfortunately, after several attempts to start the car, the battery was flat and so the stubborn car had to be towed to the station.
The young man in the cockpit was the young Mr. Hrabalek, the current owner of the Turbo Stratos.
