The somewhat different little BMW
02/25/2018
At first glance, it looked like a BMW 700 Cabriolet, but then it somehow seemed too small and also different in terms of design. This is particularly noticeable when you compare it with an original BMW 700 Cabriolet, built from 1961 onwards.
"Darling, I've shrunk the BMW" is an alternative title that comes to mind as an analogy to a well-known movie.
The miniature version can be discovered in the small/small car depot of the PS-Speicher classic car museum , which will be shown to the public for the first time this summer. The shrunken 700 Cabriolet is in fact a "BMW 600 Eigenbau", which is dated 1959 and is said to be equipped with a 582 cm3 two-cylinder engine with 19.5 hp.
It can therefore be assumed that a talented craftsman took the frame and technology of a BMW 600 and subsequently put a body based on the BMW 700 over it. This was certainly not easy, just think of the completely different arrangement of the steering and cockpit. But the result is convincing and somehow looks cute.
You can read more about the BMW 600 in a historical long-distance test, and we have published an extensive article about the BMW 700 . We will soon be reporting on the PS memory.
