Seat covers - accessories from the past

Car seat covers were on the wish list of many drivers in the sixties and seventies. There were many reasons for this, whether it was to cover up sweaty vinyl with fabric, to protect the original upholstery or simply to change the color or pattern.
The accessories industry offered a wide range of variants that fitted more or less perfectly.
Today, such covers would no longer be conceivable, as the functionality of built-in airbags would be called into question, as would the effectiveness of seat heating and other comfort features.
If you buy an old car with seat covers today, it may well be that the original seats still look almost brand new underneath, as they have not been exposed to friction or light. It's almost like Christmas ...
