Classic pearls of the future - Lotus Exige Sport 350
01/09/2016
Normally, you like to wait a little to see how a car develops and how it is received by the market before making any predictions about its longevity.
With the Lotus Exige Sport 350, released in 2015, this caution seems unnecessary. Everything has obviously been done right here. Compared to its predecessor, the Lotus Exige S, it is 51 kg lighter, now weighs 1125 kg and offers more than 300 hp per ton. The small sports car should be able to sprint to 100 km/h in just under 4 seconds and the chassis qualities were already exquisite before.
The 3.5-liter V6 produces 345 hp and should be able to accelerate the car to over 270 km/h, more than enough for the roads of today and tomorrow.
And, perhaps most importantly, the interior can now once again have the great color patterns that once looked so good on the Lotus Esprit.
The fact that this package is listed in five figures and not six (e.g. Germany: EUR 74,000) makes the whole thing even more appealing.
We recommend the manual version, as it seems to be more appreciated in collectors' circles (probably also in the future), as evidenced by the auction prices of modern Ferrari sports cars with manually shiftable gears.
We have collected further classic gems of the future in a themed channel.
