... a new online platform went live for a select group of pilot readers. At the time, the trial operation was called the beta phase. The new service was called www.zwischengas.com and its creators wanted to offer a new information channel for people interested in vintage and classic cars. The Zwischengas online platform was to be more up-to-date, more comprehensive and more complete.
"You'll never get it right," the doubters complained. "We'll give you two years at most," said others.
But we are still here and with more vigor than ever, even after five years. Zwischengas is now one of the most important mouthpieces in the classic car and youngtimer industry.
If you were to print everything that has been published as articles and information blocks on Zwischengas over the last five years, you would end up with a book of around 20,000 pages. That would be about 2.6 meters thick. It would probably have to be published in at least 20 fat volumes, but even so, the work would fill an entire bookcase. And that's not even counting the pictures, as there are also hundreds of thousands of them published on Zwischengas. Not to mention the facsimile pages.
But of course it's not about sheer volume, but about quickly accessible and useful knowledge for readers who like to deal with old cars. And this is much less easy to measure. But the many positive responses and, of course, the steady increase in readership confirm that the approach is the right one.
In any case, we are looking forward to the next five years and of course we will be celebrating the five-year anniversary with our readers in December, as we went live for everyone on December 22, 2010 and toasted the end of the beta phase.
