Space miracle 50 years ago
12/15/2014
The term "space miracle" is often used and modern marketing people think of cars such as the (first) Mercedes Benz A Class or today's minivans and micro vans.
However, cars with enormous capacity obviously existed even earlier. The NSU Prinz 4 from 1964, for example, was a cute little car just 3.44 meters long and 1.49 meters wide, with a dry weight of only 565 kg and a maximum payload of 435 kg. This was enough to accommodate a family of five including an enormous amount of luggage, if the sales brochure of the time is to be believed .
The space available did indeed appear to be generous ...
And the astonished bellboy (pictured above) was obviously also able to stow the luggage, which makes you wonder whether a modern E-Class or 5-series would be capable of something similar.
However, perhaps there were good reasons why some of the illustrations were drawn and not photographed?
In any case, the beautiful sales brochure can be found in the Zwischengas archive .
