Citroën and the extremes in the model range
10/26/2012
One can only wonder! In just a few years, the French car manufacturer Citroën not only developed one of the most successful "affordable - practical - unpretentious" cars, the 2 CV, but also one of the most luxurious and future-oriented saloons of all, the DS/ID, also known as the "Goddess" (Déesse).
While the first focused on minimal costs and the simplest construction principles, the other was intended to meet the highest demands and offer a range of innovative solutions. Hardly any other manufacturer managed such a balancing act in the post-war years and was also successful! And what is even more astonishing is that both vehicles were developed under the same chief designer André Lefèbvre. When you compare these two cars today, it is hard to believe that they are so closely related. Vive la difference!
Detailed reports on the vehicles pictured will follow soon.
