Here we go - RAID Prologue 2012
08/23/2012
For the tenth time, the RAID Prologue heralded the start of RAID Basel-Paris 2012, which begins today. And once again the sun was shining and once again not only special cars conquered Bürkliplatz in Zurich, but also many people gathered around the rarities. Not least the Ferrari 212 Inter Berlinetta Pinin Farina from 1953, which Rossellini once gave to his enchanting wife Ingrid Bergmann, was an attraction in itself. And with its suitcases on the roof, it looked as if it wanted to master the Italy-Sweden route in one night, just as it did almost 50 years ago (picture above).
Tourists, passers-by and fans were also interested in other vehicles, such as the Lagonda 16/80 Tourer Van den Plas from 1932 ...
... or the Nash Rambler from 1954.
Even the Bugatti 37 A from 1926, a real Grand Prix car, was often barely visible due to all the people.
But former everyday cars such as the BMW 2002 from 1972 also showed that they have now matured into genuine classics.
And the 1970 VW Karmann-Ghia drew attention to the rally to Paris starting today by displaying the sports paraphernalia clearly visible on the roof.
