Intermediate throttle (almost) multilingual (English, French, Italian)
Since we launched Zwischengas, interest in our reports, images and archive content has extended far beyond the German language barrier. In order to give users without in-depth knowledge of the German language the opportunity to use Zwischengas, we have now introduced a first minimal internationalization.
From now on you can register in different languages, currently English, French and Italian. The registration form as well as error messages and system-generated emails will be issued in these languages. The language (DE / EN / FR / IT) can be selected at the top right.
If you register in English/French/Italian, a corresponding language setting is saved in the user profile. However, this can also be changed manually. Simply change it in the user profile from e.g. "German" to "French".
All registered users who have not set "German" as their primary language will now see a "flag symbol" at the top of the articles. Clicking on this symbol automatically opens a new page with the corresponding translation.
The translation is provided by "Google Translate". The translations are not perfect, but a good first approximation. You can also set other languages on the translated page, e.g. Japanese.
At the moment only the editorial articles are translated. The picture gallery and the corresponding captions are not translated, nor are the extensive contents of the newspaper archive. Just give it a try, it doesn't have to be Esperanto ....
