Petrol price of 44 centimes per liter of super

Yes, it's been a long time since a petrol supplier announced the introduction of premium petrol and charged 44/45 centimes per liter. The price of petrol has been rising almost constantly since the 1950s.
It was only in the mid-1980s that there was a trend in the opposite direction, but since the end of the 1980s at the latest, prices have been rising rapidly again.
To be fair, we have to say that the average Swiss or German also earns several times more than their ancestor did in the middle of the last century, but the doubling in the last 15 years or so has certainly not been compensated for by wage increases.
And looking at the interim high at the beginning of the eighties and the rates of increase from the beginning of the seventies, it is understandable that gas guzzlers like the Mazda Cosmo 110S or the NSU Ro 80 did not get good press back then.
Nevertheless, one can only look back wistfully in view of the price development, which also broke through previously perceived sound barriers. From a classic car owner's point of view, it should also be noted that fuel costs usually only account for a small proportion of the total cost of an old vehicle due to the low annual mileage and that specific fuel consumption is no longer a decisive factor when buying a classic car.
