Altbüron as the Swiss Goodwood Festival of Speed
08/22/2011
Those who braved the late summer heat yesterday and made their way to Altbüron in Lucerne were able to watch a truly impressive selection of sporting and racing classics in full swing.
What the organizing committee had drummed up under the motto "In thoughts with Jo Siffert" was unique and hardly ever seen before in this form. When else can you see an original Porsche 917 driving up a Swiss mountain?
How often do you manage to combine the Sauber C1 and C2 in one picture?
When can you follow an original Lotus Formula 1 in Jo Siffert livery at speed?
And when was the last time you saw a Porsche Carrera 6 in Swiss livery on
a hill climb circuit ...
... or seen Siffert offspring Philippe Siffert driving a Porsche 908?
It almost felt like the Goodwood Festival of Speed, had it not been for the castle grounds and probably a few hundred thousand spectators. And yet these were just a few of the cherries on the cake. Too much for one blog entry, which is why we are already working on a comprehensive and, as always, extensively illustrated report.
