The last rides of the fall - or - winter is approaching
11/06/2010
One aspect of the classic car hobby in our latitudes is the seasons. Every year there comes a day when it snows, it gets cold below zero or road crews spread salt on the road. Then, and until the next spring, most classic cars spend the rest of the year in the dry garage. Careful owners change the oil, jack up the vehicle and/or disconnect the battery from the circuit or connect a charging/conditioning device.
Of course, you are all the more pleased when the fall lasts a long time and a beautiful day or even a period of fine weather invites you to drive the old car before you put it away for the winter. The last few days have been just such days. Temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius, dry roads and many a ray of sunshine allowed many a Porsche 356 or Mercedes 190 SL, Opel Kadett A or Jaguar E-Type to breathe in the fresh air once again and many an owner to promenade through beautifully colored deciduous forests. These trips are always something special, because you are aware that it may be the last one for several months and the trip feels a bit like a surprise gift.
Let's enjoy these days! We will remember them fondly in the coming weeks.
