... effortless. As much appreciated as the sheer performance is the fact that this Cord is steady on the road—exceptionally as a car coming from the United States. It can be cornered last confidently, and does not seem to mind whether bends or even sharper turns are taken with the engine pulling or on the overrun, though for a quick corner there is some thing in favour of keeping the engine on the drive. Gener ally, however, one is very apt to forget that front wheel drive is utilised, for in ordinary handling of the car it introduces no disadvantage or special difficulty. Tyre " scream" can be produced on a very fast corner, in which case there may also be some tendency to sideways motion of the body, but the car basically feels steady even then. Good Steering One is able to place the car accurately both in passing through a comparatively restricted width of opening at speed and in cornering, whilst the steering has strong caster return action and does not give back road shocks. It is fairly lowgeared, needing 3} turns from lock to lock, but this is not really apparent except when one comes to manoeuvring or turning round.
