Should I or shouldn't I …
Buying a car really has a lot to do with emotions. You can get completely carried away by a certain model and just have to have it at all costs. It’s a bummer when you’re young, don’t know any better, and end up with a clunker. But even when you’re older and should know better, love can blind you. But who am I to say that…
So there you are, coming around the corner after your midday coffee, and there she is. Innocent-looking, a little dirty, and with rusty brake rotors. A Moto Guzzi, the dream of every young motorcycle enthusiast. The big, older guys rode Guzzis. All I could afford to start with was a Yamaha RD 250 LC. Water-cooled—which was modern, but not really cool. And 250 cc wasn’t exactly impressive—until you let the two-stroke loose at a red light—once it hit 6,000 infernal RPMs, the party really got started, and there were no more questions. But it was exhausting.
And now, a Guzzi again? This one is actually a ’92 Nevada, an old cruiser—not exactly trendy. But the owner—or rather, the female owner—has turned it into a stunning café racer. A different seat, trimmed fenders, a nicer tank with bold lettering—the guys at the ACE Café would surely be impressed, too. So, maybe leave a note on the handlebars and ask if you should save this little machine from further damage while it sits idle? Or maybe turn it into a project of your own? It could be a new, old love…
