Ferrari as a winter car?

No, Ferrari is not exactly the first brand that comes to mind when you think about a winter car, even if the photo of the Testarossa with its snowy background points in that direction.
In fact, a Testarossa would hardly be the ideal winter vehicle, but newer cars from Maranello, notabene with all-wheel drive and a large trunk, would certainly be candidates for use in winter. But when someone recently told me that he had ordered his Ferrari 296 GTB with winter tires, I was a little astonished.
Somehow you can't really imagine exposing one of these sports cars to salt, even if it is suitable for winter use. You certainly wouldn't do this with a Maranello sports car from earlier decades.
Despite this, auction houses (the two photos are from Broad Arrow Auctions ) repeatedly show fine cars against a snowy background, but presumably there was simply no other option for the photo shoot.
A winter landscape is certainly a suitable backdrop for photos of beautiful cars and we have long dreamed of showing a Bugatti Veyron or a Lamborghini Countach in the snow. The only problem is that most of these cars don't leave their garages until the snow has gone and the roads are free of salt. Just as well, at least for the longevity of these classics ...
