The perfect four-wheeler (3rd Porsche Legends Meeting)
Take a spoonful of Singer, a glass of Bernhard, a pinch of Lindemann and a breeze of Pippig from Porsche and you have two hours of entertainment at its best, or a meal (or a four-course meal).
When long-time Porsche Motorsport cracks talk about their memories, such great stories come to light that a Hollywood director couldn't create them any better. Jochen Mass was actually planned as a driver, but due to an acute illness he could not and cannot be available for events until further notice. I would like to take this opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery.
Timo Bernhard was then brought on board in a cloak-and-dagger operation. His success speaks for itself, as he won the overall victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours five times and, as the greatest triumph of his career, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Porsche 919 Hybrid.
Norbert Singer, the ingenious designer and spiritual father of the Porsche 956/962, brought the wing car effect to the sports car and outclassed the competition.
Jürgen Pippig, former editor of "Sport Auto", joined Porsche AG in 1984, became editor-in-chief of the magazine "Christophorus" and in 1993 head of product and motorsport press at Porsche AG. From 2005, he was Head of Motorsport Communications at Audi AG.
Dr. Jürgen Lindemann became team doctor at Porsche, where he is still active today after more than 40 years and has experienced the renaissance of the World Endurance Championship with the new hypercars alongside the drivers at first hand.
How were weak drivers revived with a "simple" Coke, how did Porsche build the first carbon fiber chassis with zero experience, what was the quickest way to get the press release to the media and how did it feel to conquer the Nordschleife in the Porsche 919 Hybrid in a fabulous 5:19.55, breaking Stefan Bellof's existing record of 6:11.13 from 1983 by almost 52 seconds ... all stories that were not withheld from the participants of the event. Of course, we will be sharing these stories with our readers soon.
As always, all proceeds from the Legends Meeting, which this time took place at the Porsche Center in Zofingen, went to the Synapsis Foundation's dementia and Alzheimer's research.
