Classic cars that were only just youngtimers
10/15/2019
How quickly time flies - it was only summer and now we are already in the middle of golden fall. This is exactly how it is for some vehicles that crossed the threshold from youngtimer to classic car in 2019. The following vehicles, among others, were first sold in 1989
Mazda MX-5 - the manufacturer freely admits that a Lotus Elan from the sixties was the model in the design studio
Lotus Elan M100 - ironically, the new Elan was introduced at the same time as the MX-5, and despite its good roadholding and unproblematic engine, it was not a great commercial success for the manufacturer
VW Golf GTI G60 with the G-Lader and 160 hp (the picture shows the even rarer G60 Limited, of which only just over 70 were built)
Honda NSX - A mid-engined sports car that is often referred to as the Asian Ferrari (sold in the USA under the "Acura" brand)
Lotus Omega - A 3.6-liter biturbo engine with almost 400 hp rages in the well-behaved guise of the Opel Omega family car
At Mercedes, the R107 was replaced by the R129 in the SL model series, Fiat introduced the Uno, which was a great success, and Opel presented the Calibra, the successor to the Manta.
And what are your memories of the car year 1989?
