The world's first security center

It was in 1966 when Fordannounced that it would set up the world's first automotive safety center. It was to cover 3700 square meters and house a design office, laboratories, testing facilities and an auditorium, among other things.
However, Ford had already been conducting intensive research into the consequences of accidents, as the picture shows.
The accompanying text in Automobil Revue at the time read impressively:
" At 50 km/h against a concrete wall - this extremely vivid picture shows a test vehicle in tow at a speed of 50 km/h at the moment of impact. The built-in test equipment is connected to the measuring equipment in the escort vehicle (outside left) via a cable harness. The speed of the test vehicle is reduced to zero within 80 thousandths of a second on impact with the wall, while the crew in the form of anthropometric dummies only stop moving after around 120 thousandths of a second."
