What is more important?
10/03/2019
It seems as if the world is becoming ever more complex. For many important issues, balancing interests is almost becoming a project worthy of a Nobel Prize. Care for a few examples? Is it more important for us to produce as little CO2 as possible or do we want low levels of particulate matter? Do we want to preserve the beautiful historic cityscape or do we need energy-optimized buildings and maximum use of space? Do we value social justice more than ecological mobility?
And while we may think that we can safely leave these questions to the politicians, we will soon realize that their answers and solutions directly affect us, even as classic car drivers. After all, our time-honored classics naturally don't fit well into a future traffic landscape with autonomous electric vehicles and roads that are primarily intended for bicycles, scooters and pedestrians.
We can only hope that the historical value of the automobile as a cultural asset will continue to be valued enough in the future to enact the necessary special regulations to allow the cars of yesteryear to drive on the roads of tomorrow. This will seems to exist for buildings or even entire village centers, and old cars with their lovely noises and smells are actually part of this.
