In 1978, the Fiat Ritmo was presented, a family-friendly, functional and attractive car with front-wheel drive and a transverse engine. 1,200 people were involved in its development and of course they didn't want to inform the public about its appearance too early. For this reason, the car was camouflaged when it completed its 1.5 million test kilometers.
The asymmetrical front was nevertheless unique and therefore the disguised car is still recognizable today, but back then it was of course different, because it was only after the official presentation in the spring of 1978 that the car was also recognizable without camouflage.
Unfortunately, Fiat only remained true to the very characteristic look for four years, after which a facelift was carried out and the individual appearance (again) approached that of the competition.
As soon as we get our hands on a first-generation Ritmo, preferably the Abarth model or the 105 TC variant, we will be happy to publish a comprehensive report on it. After all, we can even quote from our own test report from back then .
