Once a year, Zwischengas becomes analog
11/24/2017
Not everything is created electronically after all. Those who have learned the old craft still enjoy working with it today and it is certainly not always so much more complicated and time-consuming than the electronic way. In the end, the result is certainly impressive.
Our cover page for the upcoming 2018 annual magazine was created purely photographically in exactly 0.138 seconds. This corresponds to the sum of all 44 individual vehicle photos, which were usually taken with an exposure time of one hundredth to one five-hundredth of a second, plus the overall image of all the individual pictures as shown above of one hundred and twenty-fifth of a second.
However, it took much longer to find the location, position and photograph the vehicles, then collect the individual images and produce the small prints with the white border. The set-up work in the photo studio, until the pictures were distributed over three levels, took another hour.
Then there was the right lighting. Finally, the graphic designer had to fit the entire image and add the title and magazine information. This is what the final title page looks like:
A cover page like this can take a good few weeks. Of course, electronics drastically shortened the process here too, as it would have taken around five to ten times longer on a completely analog basis, as all the chemical development processes and postal routes would have been added to this instead of the Internet.
And now a little quiz question: which picture has crept into the overall picture by mistake, or to put it another way: which car does not fit into the collage and why not? The first clever person will receive a free annual magazine from us.
