Tireless rescuers of cultural assets - Ford Escort meeting on August 12, 2017
In classic car circles today, people like to talk about cultural assets and saving a rare Bugatti or a Bizzarrini takes on a very special status.
But it's not just the luxury classics that are cultural assets; in fact, former bread and butter cars are almost even more so. After all, these were the cars that influenced our lives and can be seen on every corner in old movies.
We owe a special debt of gratitude to those who have made an effort to preserve these once omnipresent cars. After all, it is usually not skyrocketing valuations and auction successes, but the personal enjoyment of the old vehicle that can and must serve as motivation.
The friends of the Ford Escort also put a lot of effort and heart and soul into preserving their "dog bones" (and their successors). In Switzerland, they are united in the Ford Escort Club, among others, and on August 12, 2017, they met up with their treasures in Malters.
There was not only the ever-popular RS 2000 on display, but also a now extremely rare Tourier.
There was also a Mexico and, as a guest from the future, the ever-impressive Escort RS Cosworth with all-wheel drive.
Instead of talking about auction results, the Escort fans talked about spare parts sources and originality. And they enjoyed an uncomplicated get-together in a small circle with grilled sausages and a view of almost the entire Escort history.
