Ready for the GP Mutschellen
05/01/2016
Days before the GP Mutschellen , you could already find the stickers with the start numbers for the 2016 event, and the anticipation for this year's start of the Oldtmer hill climb season was already great.
The Riley Special that we photographed this week already had the necessary stickers for the start. Today, May 1, 2016, which is actually Labor Day, the seventh GP Mutschellen will start near Zurich with around 300 racing cars and motorcycles built up to 1986.
For once, the focus on this day is not on demonstrations, but on historic motorsport.
There will also be plenty of Swiss celebrities at the start, including Philippe Siffert (son of Jo Siffert), Bruno Kneubühler (three-time motorcycle vice world champion), Fredy Amweg (also known as the Mountain King) and Arthur Fegbli (five-time Swiss champion in the up to 125cc class from 1963-67).
Starting number 726 will also be a special treat. Bruno Weibel is the current European champion of the historic FIA Formula Junior Trophy. He will be driving the very Lotus 20 that won the title back in 1961, with none other than Jo Siffert at the wheel.
We can only hope that the weather will have mercy on the fans and the drivers despite the less than encouraging forecast and not be quite as disastrous as predicted. And that the spectators will still come and not stay at home.
We wish all participants a lot of fun! Show all the fans how attractive motorsport can be! Let's start the new season!
