Fiat 1800 charmingly presented
06/12/2012
In 1959, Fiat presented the new 1800/2100 model series, a technically outstanding automobile in a not too exciting guise. No wonder they came up with a few ideas to bring a little "glamor" to the occasion.
Impressive press photos with a lady and jet fighter were distributed and the (German-language) sales brochure from 1959 presented the car from its best side and with attractive illustrations.
And there was no shortage of superlatives and sales-oriented expressions: "class car", "superior performance", "ultra-modern", "representative car", etc.
However, the fact that the air conditioning system was also praised in the description was a clear exaggeration. This was because it was a fresh air supply heater that could regulate the air temperature, but there was no air conditioning compressor.
We recently published a historical driving report on the Fiat 1800/2100. The entire brochure is of course available in full resolution in the Zwischengas archive
.
