Surselva Classic Rally - successful premiere for new event in Graubünden
A new rally event is establishing itself in beautiful Graubünden - the Surselva Classic Rally. Over three days from May 31 to June 3, 2012, a total distance of 500 km had to be covered. The field of 36 classic cars was impressive, with a Rolls Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost (1922), a Jaguar SS (1936) and an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Zagato (1931) at the start, alongside the more common Porsche 356 and Mercedes 280 SL.
The rally included various excitement-boosting elements, such as a time trial to Foppa, a go-kart race in Bonaduz, skill tests and regularity tests. The starting point was the traditional Waldhaus Flims, whose large wellness oasis revitalized many a tired rally driver.
Daniel Egli and his son crossed the finish line as winners in a Triumph TR4A, David Hofer and company came second in a Porsche 356 SC Coupé and Annemarie Hardt came third in an Austin Healey.
The rally was announced under the slogan "This rally awakens all 5 senses!" and it certainly lived up to this claim.
