In principle, the BMW 700 was a car that women liked to drive (and buy). Nevertheless, those responsible at BMW for the operating manuals were obviously unable to break away from traditional role models when they designed the manual for the BMW 700.
Throughout the manual , almost exclusively hairy and strong male hands and arms can be seen when it comes to driving or technical interventions. Only on one page is a woman seen cleaning the car, and she does so with great enthusiasm, wearing a spotted, light-colored dress. In 1960, women still had a long way to go to achieve equal rights.
