Honda S800 in the immersion bath
05/21/2011
We have already made our weakness for illustrations that give an insight into the production methods of earlier times known.
At Honda, we can look into the paint department in 1968 and observe a Honda S800 body in the dip bath.
The Honda S800 was the first Japanese sports car to be taken seriously in Europe. Although blessed with a comparatively small displacement of 791 cm3, the small car (some also called it a bonsai sports car) produced a surprising amount of power, namely 70 hp, which was generated at astronomically high engine speeds of 8,000 rpm. Courage to rev was therefore required! And the sound was impressive. After all, in the later models the power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft and no longer by chain.
We are in the process of preparing a major report on the Honda S800, but are still looking for a suitable vehicle for a photo session (please get in touch via the contact form) .
