Transporting trees in a passenger car made easy

An everyday problem! How do we transport a tree in a normal passenger car, be it a sedan or a station wagon?
Well, Studebaker solved the problem back in 1963 with the Wagonaire. The rear part of the roof could be pushed forward and then you still had "air" at the top and the tree could be transported upright. Practical, isn't it?
However, the vehicle concept does not seem to have caught on, either because very few people transported trees or because the disadvantages of the design possibly outweighed the advantages?
