Informal, relaxed classic car meetings on the rise - example DolderClassics
Drivers of classic vehicles today can certainly not complain about a lack of opportunities to show off their classic cars at events. Rallyes, hill climbs, regularity drives, show drives, etc., the program is endless.
But the trend is also towards informal meetings where drivers and fans can simply get together without an agenda, talk petrol and let the beautiful cars pass by.
One such event is the DolderClassics, which took place for the first time yesterday in perfect early summer weather. According to the organizers, around 300 vehicles gathered between 09:00 and 18:00 on the dry (but also warm) ice field of the Dolder complex above Zurich.
There was no shortage of the beautiful Serenissima (including its Ford Transit), Mercedes-Benz convertibles, Jaguars, Triumphs, Ferraris, Rolls Royces and Alfa Romeos.
Rarely seen exotics such as the Amphicar were also present.
The nice thing about these meetings is that you can come and go as you please, you don't need to register in advance and you are sure to meet old friends and acquaintances.
The next DolderClassics will take place on June 5, and it is recommended to arrive early as space may be tight.
But you don't have to wait that long, because the" Pit Stop @ Meylenstein" on May 25, 2011 offers the opportunity to clean up your classic car and show it off again.
In any case, we have only heard positive comments and are looking forward to the next meetings of this kind, which can be planned into almost any agenda and are a good opportunity to escape from everyday life into the past.
